Projects

I work across projects as producer, researcher, writer, curator and facilitator, from death to possible futures, modern dance to diasporas. A selection of these are below. As a freelancer, I've worked with social impact non-profits such as The Reading Agency, African Gifted Foundation, Tech For Good UK, Words Without Borders, Rambert, and The Other Art Fair.

I'm passionate about access to reading, public libraries and knowledge exchange outside of institutions; death and grief in different cultures; how technology shapes social forms; the role of translation; the future; expressions of diaspora and belonging.

Invented Futures

Founder and Producer

I founded, research and produce the public research platform Invented Futures. In 2020 it was selected for the Enterprising Women programme funded by NatWest and SETsquared.

Bringing research out of institutions and in front of the public to pluralise perspectives on possible futures and public capabilities, encompassing technology, social science, science policy, physics, literature, history, computer science, philosophy, anthropology and more.

Initially based at Spike Island studios, I devise public outreach workshops, public discussions and provocations through Labs, writer in residence series' and researcher conversations. The platform network is growing: See updates here.

I raise funding through individuals, grants, university research partnerships and residencies.

Death.io

Co-founder and Researcher

I'm part of the founding team behind Death.io, responsible for articulating issues surrounding the public understanding of death in the digital age.

I undertook fieldwork through interviews, conducted vox pops, documentary film screenings, co-produced research alongside YouGov, universities and charities.

I documented this research through an online platform DEATH.io, an open space for thinking about your own death, coping with mortality and the factors that are shaping the processes of dying and grief. From the role of VR in hospices and end of life care, the problem of legacy and cryptocurrency, the use of 5G to deliver healthcare solutions, the possibility of our AI immortality, data privacy after death and the life extension phenomenon, a few of which were picked up by national press.

As co-founder I collaborated on strategies that lead to raising £150,000 seed funding.

Rambert

Archivist

I assisted in the creation of a brand new digital archive for the leading arts company, a part of Rambert’s digital strategy for its 90th anniversary. The creation of Rambert's digital collection was intended to provide the public with wider access to historical records, and lend researchers a relational performance database.

Locating original materials produced in a variety of formats, including photographs, documents, recordings and film, while building on knowledge of modern choreographers through to early 20th century pioneers. My archival work then informed outreach in the form of workshops, activities and events.

The Reading Agency

Programme Curator

For Westminster Libraries I created and oversaw individual reading plans for a total of 25 children at Victoria Library (Westminster), managing and logging their progress through weekly groups and individual reviews.

I facilitated weekly workshops that encouraged the children to advocate for their own reading interests, use their own voice to describe their experience of reading, as well as form their own response to stories. I teased out any trends and common reading traits, as well as barriers to reading, among the group, which I then wrote up and presented to The Reading Agency steering board.

Handel & Hendrix in London

Programme and Special Projects Assistant Curator

Handel & Hendrix in London is a museum dedicated to the lives and works of the German-born baroque composer Handel and rock singer-guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

I co-ordinated the development and collation of research for colleagues across the museum in relation to various outreach projects, including material for the fundraising and development teams. The research then developed outreach activities, such as workshops and events.
