Editing
I am interested in what gets read and why, and the role of translation and capital/value. In my editing work I've focused on creative scholarship within trade non-fiction, including thoughtful science communication. Within fiction I've focused on bold interior voices and marginalised experience.
Trade and Academic Publishing
Profile Books/Serpent's Tail
I worked on the Wellcome Collection imprint and Serpent's Tail fiction, as well as being mentored on aspects of line and structural editing for manuscripts, including Do Dice Play God? by Ian Stewart. I placed reviews in 'The Biologist' and EUSCI for Wellcome Collection title The Making of You by Katharina Vestre. I provided line edits for non-fiction titles across Profile, and supported writing the blurb copy for various Serpent's Tail titles.

University of Wales Press
UWP publishes books and journals focused on scholarly research in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, primarily in the fields of European studies, philosophy, literature, history, Welsh and Celtic studies. I worked on social sciences, providing proofreading and line editing for various draft manuscripts. I developed an eye for 'translating' academic research into book projects through author questionnaire's, cover brief and vision documents.
Freelance and in Translation
Albino Verlag
Alongside Khaled Alesmael, I supported the author to prepare the manuscript for Selamlik to send through to the German publisher, sustaining a relationship with the editor and director, providing line edits and structural feedback. We worked both in Arabic and English. You can now find the novel here.

Leopard Förlag
Alongside Khaled Alesmael, I supported the author to prepare the manuscript for A Gateway to the Sea: Letters from Arab Gays a creative non-fiction work made up of various interviews with queer men throughout many countries in the Arab world. I provided outreach support, overseeing translation and publisher communication, as well as working alongside the translator to support on line editing and structural edits to send to the Swedish publisher.
